Summers come with mangoes, floral dresses and the sun’s wrath. But, no one can sit at home and avoid the sun tan. As difficult it is to avoid a sun tan, getting rid of it seems impossible because using chemical can also mean all sort of skin problems.
But no worries, here is a list of top five home remedies to remove the sun tan and enjoy outdoors.
- Lemon juice
We often use lemon juice to get rid of scars because the citric acid present in it helps in skin lightening. Hence, it can be used in tan removal.
All you have to do is slicethe lemon and rub it on the tanned region and leave it on for a few minutes before you hit the shower.
- Potato juice
Potato juice is often used to lighten dark circles around the eyes. It is naturally soothing. The juice of potato is also known for being a potent bleaching agent.
Juice a raw potato and apply it directly onto your skin to get rid of the tan.
- Honey and ripe papaya
The beta-carotene,enzymes, and phytochemicals present inpapaya help promote fairness. The enzyme papain, along with with the alpha-hydroxy acids, acts as a powerful exfoliator and dissolves inactive proteins and dead skin cells. This makes the skin lighter and softer.
Honey is naturally antibacterial and is full of antioxidants.
Mash up about half a cup of papaya with one-tablespoon honey. Apply on tanned areas and let it sit for thirty minutes before using cold water to wash it off.
- Aloe with Fuller’s earth/Multani mitti
In Ayurvedic medicine,Aloe is used to effectively heal chronic skin problems, such as psoriasis, acne and eczema. It is an excellent remedy for taking care of dark tans.
Fuller’s earth, often referred to as multani mitti colloquially is all you need for complete skin care. It cools and soothes acne and sunburns in a matter of few days.
All you have to do is mix the multani mitti and aloe gel. Add enough rose water to make a smooth paste. Use chilled rose water. Apply this on the face and neck, and keep it on for fifteen minutes. Later on scrub the pack with wet fingers and then rinse with water.
- Oatmeal and buttermilk
The buttermilk will soothe your skin and heal the blisters while the oats will act as a natural exfoliator, revealing younger looking skin.
Mix the buttermilk with the oatmeal and then massage the paste onto the affected areas in circular motions for a few minutes and rinse.
