Cafes in Delhi to Soak up the Sun During Winters

Crisp winter tide and misty mornings are making its way in Delhi, but don’t be sullen about the brief days and nippy winds, there is much to let loose. Time to get over the unchanging fine dining routine and get what the winter air and soothing sun has to offer. Get off the nutshell and visit Delhi’s many cafes to order appetising food and sugar-coated sweet as you bathe in the golden sun.

There are many cafes in and around Delhi NCR that offer best bites and some exotic drinks and the prime experience to munch and savour them is in this season of winter. This list here will provide you with some of Delhi’s enchanting restaurants that will treat your hungry soul just right in the wintertime!

1. Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters


A peculiar café located in the by-lines of Saket is just the right place for coffee lovers. An affable little coffee shop Blue Tokai serves their special brews made freshly as you name it. They not only serve a café parlour but also roast some right in the café’s open counter, a have-it-all place for viewing the coffee being brewed as you sponge it up. Perhaps Blue Tokai is the only place in Delhi where you can choose your selection of coffee where they roast the coffee and you can savour the taste and aroma as well. Swing by to try the Flat White, Cortado {a double shot of espresso with textured milk}, Chilli Cinnamon Mocha, and Nitro Coffee {nitrogen infused with cold brew black coffee} they have beverages as well!!

2. Sam’s Café


Who knew amidst the crowded Paharganj there would be a place to escape from it all! An old world charm – Sam’s café provides a wide open picturesque sitting area. It holds a perfect place looking at the sky scrapers of Connaught Place, watching the flock of birds fly breezily high in groups. The view will almost convince you are not in Delhi but elsewhere.


What more do you need than a warm cuppa tea and comfy sitting area where you soak up the sun, it’s a heavenly place to enjoy chit chat with friends and lovers smoking and sipping tea side by side. Sam’s Café is mostly unengaged during the day but it is crowded with foreigners and localities’ as the sun sets, it is a perfect place to mingle with backpackers from across the globe and hear their travel stories.
Drink your poison at a marked down price as you gloat over some eateries at Sam’s. Try out the chicken lasagna, falafels, afghani chicken, choco banana and ginger honey lemon tea.

3. Rose Café


In the old world like setting of Rose Café, you feel yourself away from all the hustle-bustle of the city life. Flowery décor neatly illustrates the name of the café, where everything in soothing colour gives innervations of peace and tranquillity, a one stop café for dates and cakes. The sitting area in the patio is pleasant with planted shrubs and flowers giving titillation feel to the ambience.

Feast on delicious Pesto chicken, baked veggies, garlic cottage and cheese steak, fresh salads, desserts, yummy crunchy sandwiches and more. Here everything is mouth-watering and mellow.


One café that caters everything you need, be it fresh coffee or lunch. You cannot escape the classy tea kettles contrasting the backdrop of the café; the aroma of different herbs infused in a kettle is bountiful and savoury – “Gives the feel of Victorian high tea”. Fancy a Tea?

4. Indian Coffee House


Quite an achievement to maintain one of the oldest coffee houses in Delhi standing strong since 1940. Amongst the few landmarks in Delhi – Indian Coffee House is here to cave in your wishful appetite. In the dexterous core of the city, it offers comfort to the wallet and joy to a common man. Its rooftop atmosphere provides a cool feel for sipping coffee and long chats. “I’ve been here few times and it’s addictive”, coming to conclusion that none of us are here for the food but its age old environs and warm traditional chai.


It is a great niche to kill time and be entertained by the monkeys, an old-fangled look of the Indian Coffee House draws all young customers, and perhaps it can make a great day-tripper stop. All the turbans and red and green belts worn by the staff takes us back to the colonial times. Definitely, an old world charm and what’s best about it is that nobody prod or ask the customers to leave. Any day you roll in this coffee joint try the keema masala dosa, that will surely fill your tummy and special coffee, it’s worth it!

5. Triveni Terrace Café


Student life is hard with limited pocket money to spree with friends, while restaurants in Connaught place are always above budget; go few stops ahead of Connaught Place to Mandi House to find Triveni Terrace Café. It is a hotspot for art, political or cultural discussions, perhaps you may run into theatre artists or political activists between fiery discussions.

This café is a must visit to enjoy home cooked food, enjoy pleasant décor and admirable nook. A café that sidelines us from the busy city life absorbs you with its soothing ambience and intimate sitting arrangement.


The café also has an open air theatre that showcases some handicrafts and art exhibit. What I suggest is to visit Triveni in winters; I bet the dew will make the environment even more serene and pristine. Highly recommended menu to try are masala chai which goes well with pakoda platter, also try out palak patta chaat and delicious aloo chaat.

6. Passion Café


Passion Café highly ascribes its simplicity and dainty bistro and I was thrilled when I discovered this tiny coffee bar. The décor of the café looks like a hide-out resort, a great place for a hassle free sitting area and mini garden around. Passion is one place that can spark heart and flower in plentiful amounts. It offers wide varieties of tea and beverages and one can spend hours in this discrete café.

It gives that allure when the mist falls as you sit drinking tea and dragging a smoke. It is a fitting place to hang out with friends and be with nature as you enjoy the supa great caramelised cinnamon chai.

7. Potbelly rooftop Café


Enjoy a subtle restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating that offers assortments of Bihar dishes. A walk up through the narrow bright colour staircase leads us to the cushy sitting area, a nicely arranged with dinning and non-alcoholic bar on each side. The décor brilliantly beautifies the ceiling with twigs and hanging lamps. The outdoor has a fine and dandy sitting area giving a great view of the lush greenery of Delhi.


Burp as you try some of its delicious grubs like the Maher which is a hot dish garnished with nuts, curd, rice & spices that go well with garlic aloo chutney & fried papad. Mutton chaap with laccha paratha & boondi raita is another delicacy the potbelly offers.

8. Diggin Café


Delhi is the place to get a variance of options – party, food and art. Where to eat is limitless as this city has plenty to offer, try the luscious café that feels warm just by the look ‘’Diggin” as the name suggests – dig in for scrumptious food that will keep you blabbering about this place all day.


Diggin serves delicious Italian and continental cuisines and the ambience in winter is very Christmassy. It’s lovely red brick walls and cool ambience are a retreat after a long engaging week. Try some Crispy Zucchini Fries, Feta cheese and apple salad and mushroom risotto. The extravagant taste will delight you after you try Gelato and Mango Cheesecake.

9. Coalition Café


It’s groovy music and cool interior Coalition Café is a beautiful rooftop café for all ages. It’s laid back environment is accompanied with the best hookah one can find around Delhi. The coalition is often packed with hungry customers scooping into the cafe’s delicious entrée. Try their special pizza, it is an absolute treat and Honey Chilli Potato, and White Sauce Pasta are the other favoured goodies to savour.


This pad is cool if you are looking for a hangout spot without burning your wallet. Meet and socialise many youngsters as you grub upr those munchies.

10. Tabula Beach Café


Well, it’s certainly hard to live in a city and you can escape from it all to the beach café {well not exactly} Tabula Beach Café will give you perky vibes right as you step in. The outside sitting area is sprinkled with sand while the restaurant is in cool blue and white colour giving it a fresh look. You can unwind swinging in the hammock ordering some tasty butter garlic prawns and calamari right from the heavens dome.
They serve American and European cuisines with a melange of some comfort foods and drinks. What’s unique about this café is you can bring your dogs, YES!
