Today is world sparrow day and have you ever missed the chirping of Sparrow in the garden or Nearby Park. I believe you have nodded your head in agreement, once these birds were found in huge numbers and now they have suddenly vanished.
The reason is the mindless urbanisation of cities and the surrounding areas of the cities, once the bird was found commonly found and now it is heading to be sited as the endangered species, again it looks like humans have to blame.
In the year 2012, sparrow was declared as the ‘State Bird of Delhi’ and the reason for the almost extinct is the mindless urbanisation and the paces which trees took, is overtaken by the concrete jungle and the favourite tree of sparrows – Mulberry tree, have been chopped off, use of less clay tiles and the frequent pesticide usage.
Whereas sparrows prefer earthen nests and if you want to invite sparrows at your place, just put an earthen nest and see so many sparrows flocking at your place.
There is one more aspect to it is that the women in the house, used to clean grain and rice in the courtyard, which offered ample food to the sparrows and now severe use of insecticides and changing lifestyles.
But there is one silver lining too, Indoreans have joined hands to save sparrows, and they are conducting some interesting events in the wake of save the sparrows and the talk show on the why sparrows have decreasing in numbers.
